Wet Weather

Do not contact the Wet Weather Officer if it is wet! Contact your team Manager

During the week the Sutherland Shire Council decides if the grounds are suitable for play. The ‘Ground Closed’ sign is not always an accurate indication. If in doubt ring the Wet Weather line on 9710 0105. The council may fine the club $2,000 if any team trains on the ground when it is closed.

Do not call the Wet Weather line for weekend matches

For weekend competition matches the Sutherland Shire Junior Soccer Association will decide if the grounds are suitable for play.

Never Assume That Weekend Competitions Are Cancelled

The club will be informed around 7:30am. Team managers will be informed and they will then advise each team member

📢 2025 Wet Weather Procedure for Weekend Fixtures 🌧️⚽

This season, to maximise playing time despite wet weather, a trial Wet Weather Process has been implemented.

On the morning of match day, clubs will assess field conditions before 6:30 AM. Fields deemed playable will follow these guidelines:

• MiniRoos (U6-U11): Matches on playable fields will proceed as scheduled and will not be relocated to alternate venues. All unplayable fields will be postponed.

• Round 1-4-U12 and older: If there are not enough available fields to relocate all
games, the competition round will be postponed and rescheduled.

• From Round 5: If relocation is possible, competition games will be selected at random to proceed (e.g., 14B may play at an alternate venue while 14A may not).

This process requires significant coordination by clubs and the SSFA Wet Weather team particularly in the early hours of game day. Notification of changes will be provided as soon as possible via the SSFA Facebook page and the SSFA website: Shirefootball.com.au
